Energy storage lithium batteries are mainly applied in grid energy storage, household energy storage, and industrial and commercial energy storage fields. They require long-term and large-capacity energy storage and release, and can complete the charging and discharging process within a short period of time to meet the needs of grid frequency modulation and peak shaving. Consumer lithium batteries are mainly used in consumer electronics such as mobile phones and laptops, as well as small mobile devices such as electric bicycles and power tools. Lithium batteries are special safety regulations components, with high qualifications and production thresholds.
The core links of energy storage lithium batteries include battery pack (PAC), battery management system (BMS), battery materials, energy storage converter (PCS), and temperature control and fire protection, etc. In the entire lithium battery module, the cell is the most valuable key component. The cell: its main function is to store and release electrical energy. It is made up of lithium-containing positive electrode materials (accounting for about 45% of the cost), lithium-containing negative electrode materials (about 12%), electrolyte (7%), and separator (about 18%), etc. The design of energy storage lithium battery cells pays more attention to cycle life and stability, usually using lithium iron phosphate (LFP), ternary materials (NCM/NCA), etc.; the design of consumer lithium battery cells pays more attention to energy density and lightness, usually using cobalt oxide (LCO), etc. Shell and packaging: Due to the large volume and weight of energy storage lithium batteries, steel shells or aluminum shells are usually used for packaging to improve the heat dissipation performance and safety of the battery; consumer lithium batteries usually use aluminum plastic film packaging, that is, soft-pack batteries.
